Diet affects cancer both directly and indirectly. Nutrients directly impact the mechanisms by which cancer cells grow and spread. They indirectly help control the cancer by changing the surrounding biochemical conditions that either encourage or discourage the progression of malignant disease. The bottom line is that what you eat can spell the difference between conquering your disease and having it rage out of control.

Environmental Toxins And Cancer Risk: The President’s Cancer Panel Report

Last week, the President’s Cancer Panel released a report entitled “Reducing Environmental Cancer Risk: What We Can Do Now.” I first learned about the report on May 6 from an op-ed column by Nicholas Kristof. I enjoyed Mr. Kristof’s summary of the report, though the information it contained did not shock me: as a cancer researcher, I already knew that environmental factors are involved in causing cancer.

Colorado Medical Marijuana Backlog: Cancer Patient Receives Pot Card Months After Her Death

When she was diagnosed with cancer last year, she continued to take care of others — sending a reassuring note that she’d had a good, long, interesting life, and that we should not worry about her. She took care of herself, too, and in early October sent her application for a medical marijuana card to the state via registered mail.
